Stupendous Starters

Many of our starters are well known Indian favourites. What makes them special is the care and attention that our chefs put into each and every one of them, using their own unique methods. They’re great to get your taste-buds tingling and in the mood for one of the Indian Ocean’s exquisite main courses. 

A Guide to our Starters

Onion Bhaji: Onion is deep-fried in a light gram flour with fresh coriander for this classic and gently spiced dish.

Vegetable Samosa: Pieces of soft and tender diced potato are combined with carrots, peas, fresh coriander and delicate spices and served in a piping hot, crispy pastry wrap. 

Meat Samosa: Another crispy pastry wrap, this time served stuffed full of finely minced lean lamb, onions, fresh coriander and a selection of Indian spices. 

Mushroom and Keema Pakora: Fresh mushrooms stuffed with delicately spiced mince and coated in a light gram flour batter.

Mushroom Pakora: Whole mushrooms cooked in a delicate batter.  

Spicy Garlic Chilli Mushrooms: Portobello mushrooms cooked in butter with spring onion, green chillies and lots of garlic and served on a bed of fresh mixed leaves.

Shami Kebab: In a dish you may not have heard of before, a gently spiced patty of tender chicken is coated in a light batter and gently pan-fried with lentils.

Aloo Tikki: A favourite amongst our vegetarian customers, potato patties are spiced and deep-fried in batter before being garnished with sweet pomegranate seeds.  

Chicken Pakora: Tender chicken tikka is cooked to perfection and served in a crispy batter.

Lahori Fish: Two succulent pieces of flaky white fish are cooked in a medium spiced batter with coriander seeds, cumin and onion seeds.

Prawn Cocktail: Our take on a British favourite. Juicy prawns served on a bed of crispy green lettuce and covered in our very own seafood sauce. Garnished with chopped cucumber, tomatoes and a slice of zingy lemon. 

Punjabi Fishcakes: Our award winning, spiciest starter. Flakes of fish are mixed with spices and creamy mashed potato, before being coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried. Served with tartar sauce.
